We, citizens of Togo living abroad, are particularly alarmed by the unprecedented and indiscriminate displays of force and the use of lethal weapons by Togo security forces against the peaceful demonstrations organized by the Pan-African National Party (PNP) on August 19, 2017.

These repressions with an unprecedented brutality have once again resulted in the killings of many of our fellow citizens in Sokodé and many more gravely wounded in Lomé, Aného, Kpalimé, Bafilo, Sokodé, Kara and Dapaong. We refuse to stay silent in front of such continuing brutal violence perpetrated against our compatriots who are merely demonstrating their legitimate constitutional rights to restoring the 1992 Constitution approved overwhelmingly by 99.17% of voters with a 74.2% turnout.To this effect, we make the following statement;
